Re: Cold week with occasional showers: June 18-22

2.5mm here so far; looks okay for east Central, which would be good - we've had a decent run here.

Supposedly zero or below here every night for the next several - Macedonian if you do get snow, it probably won't melt in a hurry!

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Another 3.5mm here to get as 1mm over our June average - now we just need another 20mm to make up our ytd.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Great to see those big totals for Bendigo and Macedon/ Kyneton.

We finished up with 26.5mm, so 78mm mtd and 2.5mm short of our June average - hopefully we can knock that off during the thread dates :).

Nice and steady rain here too, I thought I would be more rain shadowed today.
Me too, but we're doing well (again!) with 17mm so far; another 12mm and we'll hit our June average - looking achievable now.

No day to be outdoors!

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Looking good for you JS; here, we're 29mm short of our June average, so we'll be lucky to make that tomorrow being in the lee of the Divide this time.

Edit- nice to see a Floodwatch for minor flooding for NE Vic catchments - I mean that in a positive way!

7mm here, nice start. Looks like north of Ballarat may have done quite a bit better.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

WATL looking very good for rainfall totals from these systems in this morning's run; large parts of Vic in the 25-100mm range and nowhere misses out on a useful drop. Might get us to our June average (36mm away):

Re: Strong front and possible low: June 2-6

Another 11mm here, so a mere 43.5mm for the event - chickenfeed compared to some of the totals reported here, but over half way to our June average :). This system must win the award for biggest upgrade - at least for West Central. Relentlessly cold too - mostly stuck on 3-5 C for the last couple of...

Nice fine balmy and calm morning after a couple mm in the bayside desert 🐪
Might go for a nice beach walk later 🌞
After nearly 10 inches in 5 weeks, and horizontal 3-6C rain for 18 hours, I'm ready to swap you!

Re: Strong front and possible low: June 2-6

A couple of local flood advices on Vic Emergency app, so I reckon the Lerderderg is a good chance to be flowing hard! Up to 33mm here - I can't believe I'm saying this, but that might just about do for now! (Btw yesterday a farmer near Clarkes Hill (about half way between Daylesford and Ballarat) to...

Re: Strong front and possible low: June 2-6

The wind is getting nasty now. And temp of 3-4C last 14 hours, so it's lucky we're getting useful rain because in every other respect the weather is horrible!

One weird thing is the high barometer, rare to get good rain at 1020 hPa. Passed 30mm rain.

Re: Strong front and possible low: June 2-6

I’ve see then types of systems drop snow to around 500m before as the falling snow steadily chills the surface layers to near zero allowing the snow line to drop. Would rule out a surprise snow flurry in the Dandenongs. This sort of effect fascinates me HB, suspect it sometimes contributes to us ge...

Re: Strong front and possible low: June 2-6

For rain, WATL is looking the best it has for a few days, eastern Vic particularly but also just east of Ballarat (us) is looking better. Who would have thought, a last minute upgrade :). Not sure about snow here, although I see on some snow forums they're getting excited about snow for the Blue Mou...

Re: Low pressure sequence. 24–31 May

Well what a month! Our coldest May max. since 2000, our best May snowfall since 2000, and with another 5.5mm to 9am, our wettest month (any month) in 22 years here: 201 mm! A barely believable turnaround from our driest Jan-April, when just 62mm fell. Still puts us a bit behind (263mm ytd) our end ...

Climate Outlook Accuracy

After some discussion in the regular weather threads, thought it might be useful to start some comparisons. I don't intend this to be a 'bag the NCC' thread but I do think there needs to be a discussion about whether a bad forecast is better than no forecast. In other words, should forecast accuracy...

Re: Strong front and possible low: June 2-6

Looking like things have moved a bit further east on the latest BOM 4 day chart; probably favouring eastern suburbs/ West Gippsland?

Still, a few mm to get June started.
