Some big storms here earlier; we scored 12mm and 25mm just down the road.

Re: another 1 or 2 lows tracking SE over Vic 22 Oct - ?

4C and windy here, fits with a good cover of snow at Baw Baw and in the Snowys on the cams this morning.

Another 4mm in the gauge brings us to 94mm mtd, well above our 78mm October average.

Re: another 1 or 2 lows tracking SE over Vic 22 Oct - ?

Worth noting that proper snow fell here for a few minutes around 9am this morning (as in windblown flakes). Didn't settle of course, but wasn't expecting that! Temp at the time was 2-3C on the car thermometer.

Cold, showery and windy afternoon, so a wintry day all up!

Re: another 1 or 2 lows tracking SE over Vic 22 Oct - ?

22mm here. I'll take that, probably on the upper side of model totals.

Good to see a nice spread of decent falls, although that Bendigo result is annoying! Hope there's a bit of catch-up before the event ends.

I know - it's fascinating. I guess I have to assume BOM knows something which isn't obvious to amateurs like me :).

What the hell happened in 24hrs to go from 20-40mm and heavy rain to under 5mm ?

Doesn't make sense.
BOM still sticking with their SWW for heavy rain for Bendigo as of a few minutes ago; map virtually unchanged since the 10.38am one. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV21037.shtml

18z ICON downgrades to just 5mm for here. Hilarious.
It is a bit - SWW issued at 10.38am for Heavy Rainfall comfortably includes Bendigo (and Castlemaine Hawker)... http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV21037.shtml

At least it will be mainly dry for my son's special day tomorrow (his birthday, born 10/10/10 & tomorrow turns 10). :D
That is fantastic :)!

Great rain, but glad to see the end of that wind!

Another 8mm here since 9 am makes 25mm since it started midafternoon yesterday; and an even 40mm for the week. Nice :).

Not over yet by the looks of the blob coming up from the south.

17mm here, 32mm for the week, 38.5mm mtd. Good start, especially if we can pick up a bit more from the wrap around.

13mm here. Good to see a spread of decent to half-decent falls.

Hopefully any of those who came in on the low side a bit to the north, will more than catch up with round 2.
Yes hopefully Gordon after 3 mm with round 1,
Bom is saying 30 to 60 for the 2 days.
That'd do it :)!

Re: Warm with possible heavy falls developing: First week of October

Dead calm here for the last few hours - quite a relief after the gales of the last couple of days. Perhaps a sniff of a sea breeze here around sunset (a brief south-easterly breeze) but short-lived.

Re: Warm with possible heavy falls developing: First week of October

6.5mm in the gauge to start October. Next week looks a bit messy. Everything from 10 to 60mm is being bandied around... Have to say, I don't trust the models for this period one bit - not for detail anyway. Some sort of consistency around Sunday's trough/rainband, but beyond that, it's chaos. EC has...

Re: Deep low and cold outbreak: September 22-29

Nice pics Blackie! Just back from the Eildon area, still a heavy snow cover on Torbreck etc and Buller, the Bluff etc still plastered in snow. Streams roaring; Lake Eildon came up 5cm yesterday and is at almost 60% - much better than this time last year. Frost this morning, so it's hard to imagine t...

Re: Deep low and cold outbreak: September 22-29

Fascinating system developing. The cold pool is just moving up on Melbourne now, and the trailing rainband is a warm front on the backside. Temperatures up here in the Nongs are falling quickly ahead of the rain - dropped from 6C to 2.9C in the last two hours. Expecting it to snow shortly :D This s...
