Re: Vic: Fronts and troughs 9 - 19 July

I can't remember the last time I thought this, but with this area one big bog (nearly 16 inches of rain since the start of May) I'm quite looking forward to a few fine days.

Struggled to find the best spot to put this (other suggestions welcome!) but here's an interesting little article evaluating the Federation drought: https://www.abc.net.au/news/rural/2019-07-16/federation-drought-analysis-finds-huge-ecosystem-losses/11312694 Gives some context to the current dry spe...

Re: SNOW FALLS in NSW...Past and present

Not a bad gain at Spencers Creek this week; now 122.3cm, which is a 77.8cm increase in 6 days and abruptly puts snow depth well ahead of last year.

Re: Vic: Fronts and troughs 9 - 16 July

Good to see the east getting a decent soaking and balancing the ledger somewhat! It was amazing watching that conveyor belt of rain running along the Otway coast last night and straight up over the Dandenongs, Yarra Valley, Baw Baw etc and on up to Buller and the north-east ranges. Meanwhile, we had...

11mm here to 9am, 30.5mm for the dates. More since - doesn't stop! Odd burst of snow among the icy rain, but doesn't look like settling.

16.5mm here to 9am; local streams on the verge of bursting their banks (again!)

Absolutely sopping wet up here now - anything that falls runs straight off.

14mm here so far. With once-a-few-decades rain in May and June, starting to think about the consequences of too much rain - an unusual sensation! :?

Just 3.5mm here but some decent falls a bit further west. Good to see the Mallee and Wimmera cop more handy rain!

Re: Front with rain and storms: June 30-July 2

Amazing SB! Just back home from a wet & windy west coast. We managed a mere 37.5mm here at Gordon to 9am, bringing us to 132.5mm for June (22yr average 80.9mm) and our second wettest June (behind 138mm in 2012). A site 10km NW had 64mm! We are now 395.5mm ytd, comfortably ahead of our half year aver...

Even on our hilltop it's already down to 3C.

And yes, new thread needed for what looks like a good finish to June.

Surely you'll get snow this afternoon/evening Macedonian? You seem to be right in line for the current stream of showers? (We're a tad too far west so far.)

Re: Cold week with occasional showers: June 18-22

Ended up with 6.5mm here which brings us to a tidy 90mm mtd, 9.5mm above the June average.

If we can get another 10mm, we will be on track for ytd for the first time in 2019.

Re: Cold week with occasional showers: June 18-22

2.5mm here so far; looks okay for east Central, which would be good - we've had a decent run here.

Supposedly zero or below here every night for the next several - Macedonian if you do get snow, it probably won't melt in a hurry!

Another 3.5mm here to get as 1mm over our June average - now we just need another 20mm to make up our ytd.

Re: Sequence of fronts with possible low: June 9-15

Great to see those big totals for Bendigo and Macedon/ Kyneton.

We finished up with 26.5mm, so 78mm mtd and 2.5mm short of our June average - hopefully we can knock that off during the thread dates :).

Nice and steady rain here too, I thought I would be more rain shadowed today.
Me too, but we're doing well (again!) with 17mm so far; another 12mm and we'll hit our June average - looking achievable now.

No day to be outdoors!
