Re: Becoming humid with showers, storms and rain: November 22-30

Some crazy winds locally on Wednesday afternoon/evening with strong South Easterlies coming off the Dandenongs. Montrose and Kilsyth in the lee of the hills were particularly windy with quite a few trees down and a tin roof ending up in a neighbour's garden :? Relatively calm up in the hills. After ...

Re: Easterly trough with showers and storms: January 21-26

Some very brief small hail, pouring rain and a couple of VERY close flash-bangs through Croydon about 45 mins ago. A couple of flooded roads around Ringwood East. Steady rain here at home. Looks like Geelong copped a nice storm.

Re: Another rain bearing low: 20th - 23rd Oct

Certainly support falls in the 50-100mm range (and locally more). Small and slow moving cells. The AWS at our SES unit in Lilydale recorded 64mm with a peak rate of 126mm, with the two cells appearing to converge over Mooroolbark/Lilydale - the heavy rain just kept going and going! Certainly made f...

Re: Big rain event 12-14 October

Campaspe River is starting to look bad. Secondary spillway at Eppalock a chance of going over.... Rochester SES Unit Controller was on Sunrise (Ch7) this morning with the sandbag trailer in the background - was concerning to hear talk of the flood levels exceeding the 2011 levels which had put a go...

Well done! I was on the verge of giving up but was still checking every few days and keeping an eye for any news on a few other forums. Good to be back.

Just turned feral out there. Decent shelf cloud followed by lots of scud in several directions. Wind gusts and raining now.

Rain easing off now but still plenty of CC's around.

Had one of the loudest cracks of thunder I've heard in a long time, dog unimpressed. Was some pea-sized hail in the mix too.

Here was me thinking that slow-moving huge cell in the inner-east/CBD was going to expire by the time it got here, then a cell formed just to the south of us.

Absolutely caning it down now :D

Re: A deep low with gales, heavy rain, storms and coastal surge: October 28-31

Quite the wind overnight, always sounds worse when it's dark of course :) Gusts to over 85kmh this morning on the local SES AWS. Cracker of a storm yesterday evening, mostly CC's then a couple of CGs quite close by, got a decent view just lying in bed with the blinds open :D Looked to hit somewhere ...

Re: Complex low to bring Rain, Storms Snow Oct 13th to 17th

Bit of a dud storm-wise here, at least the northern suburbs got a bit of hail action last night. Rain rate is ramping up, could be a long wet night - good night to be inside although may end up out in the wet if the winds pick up as forecast :? Initial Moderate Flood Warning out for the Yarra at Hea...

First chance to post since the mayhem that unfolded Wednesday night. Have been on the go with SES for five days with the cleanup and requests are still coming in. Needless to say absolutely crazy winds Wed night/Thu morning. After attending a few tasks in Wandin it took around 2 hours to make our wa...

23mm so far, steady rain for the past few hours. Wind seems to be picking up a bit now.

Cracker of a hail shower yesterday afternoon, not large hail thankfully but continuous pea-sized for three or four minutes.

That was quite the rainshadow in the Eastern suburbs for a few hours there - thankfully, the rain has hit properly now (although right on school pickup time of course!)

Re: Series of front with possible cold outbreak: April 8-12

Some heavy rain and a few good hail showers here at our new place in Mooroolbark, over 25mm on the nearest AWS.

Cold and wet enough for the dog to only venture outside briefly :). The retarding basin across the road is now a duck pond. Quite the change from a few days ago.

Easing off now.

Re: Possible STORMS - hot and cold Dec 5/6

Just 0.4mm today (local AWS) from those westerly showers. Some half-decent winds yesterday afternoon with some trees down around Bulleen and Doncaster East keeping us out until the wee hours. Caught this angry-looking cloud yesterday evening which didn't amount to much at all in the way of rain. htt...

Re: another 1 or 2 lows tracking SE over Vic 22 Oct - ?

Some strong SE winds playing havoc in the outer east with plenty of trees down in Mt Evelyn yesterday and around Kilsyth, Montrose, Boronia, FTG today, including a large tree that fell on my sister-in-law's chook shed about 11.30 last night :? Luckily the chooks were roosting as the tree missed thei...

29.4mm in the 24 hrs to 9am locally, most of that around 5am and again around 7am.

Rain was lashing down at times, the new guttering got a good workout.

Re: Deep slow moving low with rain, snow, gales and storm surge: August 17-24

Well that escalated quickly - was pretty wild for a short period. A massive dark grey cloud to the south shortly before heading out just after 5.30pm. Plenty of trees down in the East including a very large tree across a road and a caravan (unoccupied thankfully) in Wonga Park. Saw plenty of areas a...

Re: Deep slow moving low with rain, snow, gales and storm surge: August 17-24

BTW check out your barometers. Pressures have gone below 990hPa. Doesn't happen too open. So far the lowest I've seen here is 988 :o The August record for Moorabbin which has a good long record is 985.8 hPa so not far of record low values. Oh wow -just checked, 989.0 here. It looked to be clearing ...
