Re: First N/W Cloudband, Statewide Rain and Cool Start to Ea

Hi All, Crazy in the city. Wind gust has brought down a wall, killed two people. I was around the corner in RMIT at the time but didn't feel anything as I was inside. Here's a copy of something I posted on Facebook: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...

Struggling to believe these cells aren't lightning active. I'm standing on top of Forest Hill Chase got a perfect view to my west and absolutely nothing! What a fickle hobby this storm chasing is, shame I love it so much!

Re: Storms and rain Feb 25th-March 2nd.

Cells starting to pop up west of the bay, after the sea breeze went through, would've been interesting if the breeze wasn't as strong. Need to see if anything comes down off the ranges on the east, here's hoping!

Re: Storms and rain Feb 25th-March 2nd.

I think ILS is onto something. With very little high cloud today, temps have gone a little higher than expected. First cell on the radar out past Ballarat appears to be moving east. Convection looking ok across the northern suburbs, I'm wondering if we could have a repeat of Thursday night (that wou...

Aerological Diagram for 10pm last night looks interesting with a lot of instability above the cap. Will be interesting to see today's sounding, but looks like we could have quite the show if/when it breaks the cap. Will be on the lookout for any Cu fields this arvo! http://farm9.staticflickr.com/852...

Also watching that Whittlesea cell. Pretty stunning. Was at the Kangaroo Ground tower an hour ago and saw this cell starting to go, thought that it would amount to nothing. Kicking myself now, could've been right in the middle of it!

Re: Extended warm spell and becoming humid - Feb 6 to 15

Phenomenal storm north of Warnambool, amazing it's tracking opposite to the rest of it. I remember seeing that on the radar of the storm that produced the Lennox Head tornado, cell just started moving opposite to the rest of them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FvDKIbXSbs Will be interesting to hea...

Re: Victoria: Trough - showers/rain/storms - 13th-16th Dec 2

Well, It's been a while since posting, but this event definitely has my undivided attention. Turns out my birthday is on Saturday, ordinarily this would be great, catch a storm on my birthday and go out chasing for the day, except I had to go and organise a beach party, inviting over 100 people. Bla...

Hi All, Been a while, hope you're all having a cracker start to the year! Looking at today I'm wondering if someone with a little insight could give a bit of analysis on what's happening with the Wind Shear today? I've started to learn about shear at different levels, trying to add it to my repertoi...

Storms are starting out in Eastern Vic. Can't quite see see tracking according to the radar - anyone know which way they're expected to track today?

Lily,

I think it's for the teenagers around. Pretty sure it's called urban exploration, climbing into drains and underground pipes just to see what's there. Noticed these signs go up a couple of years back. Seems kinda obvious though!

Re: December 24 & 25 Chase Report (greensyboy)

Hi All, Thanks for the comments - it did take a while to complete, but I had that much fun and it's been literally where I live. Never in my wildest imagination would I have thought that there was ever going to be a Tornado producing Supercell less than 5km from my house. I'm currently working on co...

December 24 & 25 2011 Chase Report (greensyboy)

24-12-11 Day Was out Christmas Shopping, when looking out from Greensborough Plaza I could see a cell with massive convection going up to my north. Got home, checked the radar, not much rainfall but looked pretty good and figured it was worth a chase. Convection Looked ok for that cell. http://farm...

Re: Vic - Potential showers/storms - 21st Dec to Boxing Day

Hi All, Doing a writeup from my chase yesterday. Looking through the radar frames and have noticed what I think to be a fairly strong hook, plus couplet on radar over Doreen from the Melton cell. It occurs at 18:12 EDT on the 64km + 128km rain rate radar and 18:13 on the doppler. I haven't got a cle...

Hey All, Connected with a mutual friend today - he's with the CFA. Was in Melton and got a pic of the Melton Tornado. He's posted it in the Facebook group Victorian Thunderstorms 2011-2012: http://www.facebook.com/VICTS11.12 Also mentioned I might be interested in doing an interview - get some more...

Re: Vic - Potential showers/storms - 21st Dec to Boxing Day

Hey All, Just got home and had a shower. Spent 12 hours over the past two days chasing. Amazing stuff. Just had a quick look, Hamlan mentioned a supercell capable of dropping tornadoes over Yan Yean. I was on the thing also for about 10 minutes before I got overtaken by hail. Was the most amazing st...

Re: Vic - Potential showers/storms - 21st Dec to Boxing Day

Had a feeling there'd be another line about 3am. Seems to be the best one yet! Pretty constant CCs, plus a second cell I can see on it's way through, can't believe how good I've had it the past 24 hours. Seems everything keeps falling into place. Enjoy the night everyone - especially those with the ...
