SE QLD - 12th October

Hey guys, long time no talk. Thought I'd pop in and share some shots from this weekends storm chase. The chase was almost derailed before it really begun, when we came across this on one of the deserted country roads up here... http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8137/10225905345_de26c75608_b.jpg Poor blo...

Re: QLD - Tropical Cyclone Oswald - 21st Jan to ??? Jan 2013

Yeah, all good here too. Just heaps of rain and wind. Haven't lost power or anything, barely even a few puddles around now. Only concern is whether I'll be able to get to work in the morning, with some flooding reported around where I work.

Re: QLD - Tropical Cyclone Oswald - 21st Jan to ??? Jan 2013

Yeah, the rain seems to be easing, but wind is as strong as its been all day here - gusting up around 90-100km/h. And yes, the m word has been driving me nuts. You'd think this whole thing would prove to people that there is nothing 'mini' about even a low end tornado. I could go on with a long rant...

Re: QLD - Tropical Cyclone Oswald - 21st Jan to ??? Jan 2013

Yeah, lovin it up here, Robyn! Dunno if I'll ever be back haha.

Just cracked 90mm here for the day, added to the 84mm we've had over the previous two days gives us 174mm for the event. Easily the most rain I've ever seen live.

Re: QLD - Tropical Cyclone Oswald - 21st Jan to ??? Jan 2013

I have family staying up here with us atm. Barely rained all summer, now we have this. Not really the best weather for showing them the sights.

Anyway, nothing too extreme here yet, just rained on n off all day, but haven't even cracked 20mm. Tomorrow could get interesting tho.

Obviously an anomaly due to the fires, but still, pretty toasty.

Re: SE QLD - Nov 17th-18th Supercells

And Sunday. Lingering instability was predicted to set off more severe storms and the day didnt disappoint. Unfortunately, I had plenty of other things to do and it wasn't til about 4pm that I could get out for a look. Thankfully a nice severe cell was making its way up from the south at the perfect...

SE QLD - Nov 17th-18th Supercells

Better late than never! My pics from last wknd, my first real big QLD setup. The feel throughout the day was great with numerous storms around, we even landed ourselves in an accidental core punch early in the morning on the way out to our target area lol. Just wish I could have got in better positi...

Just looked at the radar for the first time today and my god what an incredible line of storms. Copious amounts of lightning.

Have fun down there, guys!

Some recent additions to the collection... Stumbled across a nice little waterfall on the drive up to QLD from Victoria. The flow was a bit sucky, but still quite a nice spot. Hickeys Falls, located 42 km south-west of Coonabarabran in NSW... http://www.redsevenphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/gal...

Check out RedBubble and 500px. Both have plenty of users who post extreme weather photos that you can purchase through the site.

24th September 2012 - SE QLD Storms

Well after driving over 500km's on Friday without much luck, I was finally about to intercept my first decent QLD storm yesterday! We had a trough move through after a warm start to the day, leading to some unstable weather. Unfortunatley, as I'm learning, moisture is a bit of limiting factor at thi...

Re: So, I'm moving...

Cheers, Lily! Well, the good news is we made it here after three days driving, the bad news is removalists have stuffed us around and furniture wont be here til Sunday! So we are roughing it for the next few days. Note to anyone moving - don't take the backloading option! But the real good news is, ...

Re: Cold Fronts: August 22 - 26

Pretty uneventful day here, few intense wind gusts and turbulent clouds passing overhead about 4:30, before it cleared briefly then ramped up again with a 30 sec hail shower (tiny stuff) and that was it. Would have loved to have been up in ne NSW today with that massive line ploughing through.

Yeah, hoping for a big storm season up there to kick things off!

I'm not going anywhere in a virtual sense, tho. Will keep posting reports from the sunshine state.

Re: So, I'm moving...

Hey bm, we will be living in Springfield, about 25-30 mins from the cbd. Were putting our house in a shipping container on Monday and hoping to meet it up there by the end of the week (got an 18 hour drive to look fwd to!). All very exciting, but kinda stressful at the same time. I have a good vibe ...
