Re: Victoria - Troughs and possible low - September 1-7 2019

Got a cracking shower here before with a peak rainfall rate of 80mm/hr. 6mm in quick time. Month tracking quite well, with MTD of 20mm now. Looks like late showers tomorrow. That heat up north is not good. Into the mid 30s or higher in SA. More than 10C above average and getting uncomfortably close...

Re: Strong front and Tasman Sea low: August 28-30

5mm so far from this lot, almost 90mm for the month. I got back from Cohuna/Echuca yesterday. Was expecting a dust bowl out that way the way it is portrayed by the media, however it is very much as green as can get. Good to see Probably because you weren't in the area the media has actually been fo...

Re: Vic - Strong Cold Front August 18 - 19

Been very lucky down this way. Very green. Most places nearing average. But the country as a whole is in real bad shape at the moment.

Hopefully spring delivers.

Re: Vic - Antarctic cold wave 7 - 12 Aug 2019

Seems like this end of the bay copped some of the worst. Shocking wind, a good dumping of rain and cold temps all day. "Polar blasts" in Oz versus "polar blasts" in North America and Europe are just different beasts, I'm afraid. While the North American and European landmasses stretch all the way to...

I don’t know what it’s like on the other side of the bay, but it’s blustery, cold and wet this side and what we’ve been waiting for all winter :D

Just awoke to a massive bang, don't know what it was, but damn the wind is bad. Not sure what's going to await me in the morning :(

Re: Vic - Antarctic cold wave 7 - 12 Aug 2019

5mm from that band. Quite heavy at times, though looked heavier on the radar than actually occurred. 5.9c and the wind has dropped off. Had a maximum gust of 55km/h during the rain. A bit more patchy stuff coming in from the west. Might be hail/snow making the radar appear more heavy? Good drop her...

Re: Vic - Antarctic cold wave 7 - 12 Aug 2019

The winter before last threw up a few 'snow above 300-400m' forecasts 2 or 3 days in a row from memory. Though I think it fizzled due to a lack of moisture.

Getting a few flakes below 700m is like baking a soufflé in this state :)

Re: Vic - Antarctic cold wave 7 - 12 Aug 2019

This is such an August thing to do :D

Possible damage aside, it's good to finally have some weather on the horizon. Hopefully we get some low level snow and some decent rainfall. Question is, will it underwhelm or actually deliver?

Re: Vic - Antarctic cold wave 7 - 12 Aug 2019

Was it 2008 when suburbs like Frankston had snow flurries overnight? August 2005 had snow to sea level. I witnessed flurries in Dandenong north and Lilydale, Seaford had flurries, and Korumburra was snowed under at less than 200m asl. Philip island recorded snowfalls and the Bass Hills were covered...

My NSW low snow buddies are saying that the low snow chances for Vic have vanished according to the models.
Which is fairly amusing considering they were saying, only just last night, that we would be digging our way out by this time next week.
Generally the way it goes :D

Re: Sequence of fronts in a westerly stream: July 21-26

Very mild couple of nights. Didn't score that much rain the other day. Will hopefully score a few mms tomorrow.

Meanwhile, all-time hottest temps recorded in the Netherlands, Germany and Paris today. Meanwhile UK records its hottest July day.

Re: Welcome to our Weatherzone friends

Just been reading through a post on Weatherzone (http://forum.weatherzone.com.au/ubbthreads.php/topics/1501819/10) and people have been saying negative things about this forum. I wanted to register an account on Weatherzone but it appears they have closed that. This forum has had its arguments over...
