Re: Victoria - Warm then more rain - 13th-20th Jan 2020

The 77mm in St Albans seems to be the highest metro total (a western suburb, can you believe it? lol)

Incredible range of totals, but at least most of the metro got something.

Re: Victoria - Warm then more rain - 13th-20th Jan 2020

Has literally not stopped raining since the storm first made landfall. It was clearing us according to the radar, but it kept going and going... wasn't expecting it to morph into such a large patch of rain. Another band forming in behind it, though whether it has the steam to keep going, I don't kno...

Feel like I need a respirator. The smoke is horrific.

Quite a bit of fresh development but I'm not sure it'll make it this far

Re: Victoria - Warm then more rain - 13th-20th Jan 2020

Damn, if its peak ferocity unleashed over the burbs instead of over the bay it would've been insane. Still a good drop though

The focus of intensity appears to be north of the CBD, or the CBD itself

This side of the bay won’t get anything at this rate... everything is being expended over water :x

What a waste of all that rain. It’s just parked itself over the bay, serving no one :|

Holly cow that cell over the bay grew fast and strong. Mornington could be in for a wallop and a half
Don't worry about Mornington. Seems to be edging slightly North-east towards me and you
It’s so slow moving, I wonder if it’ll lose most of it’s energy before reaching the other side.

Re: Victoria - Warm then more rain - 13th-20th Jan 2020

Asides from the smoke haze, it’s quite sunny, which is very good where storms are concerned

Edit: first cells are starting to emerge. The current conditions are conducive to fairly severe storms

Re: Victoria - Warm then more rain - 13th-20th Jan 2020

Ready for this smoke to clear off. Felt okay most of the day, but by the end of it I had an irritated throat and eyes.

Anyone lucky enough to catch themselves under a storm over the next few days is in store for quite the deluge... :D

Re: Becoming hot and windy ahead of a strong change: January 8-10

With Melbourne's highest daily being just over 15mm, it's no surprise the city didn't even crack 400mm in 2019.

Maybe this is a good omen? :(

Re: Becoming hot and windy ahead of a strong change: January 8-10

Fantastic 18mm in my backyard. Nothing like the 400mm+ totals that are falling over the top end right now, but extremely welcome nonetheless.

Few sparks flying as the band passes over gippy, but it's accompanied by rain, so not too troubling.

Gotta love those radar images! Fantastic rainband pushing through. I'm already over 10mm. Biggest fall in a while.
