Re: Hot and thundery - Tropical moisture feed - Jan 4 to 14

Sorry to say people but the rainband is falling to bits. We have just had a shower go through from what looked like a solid rain band in SA. Looks like once again the action has gone north of Broken hill. Unless there is a solid band of storms that is developing in SA right now, we will be lucky to ...

Re: Hot and thundery - Tropical moisture feed - Jan 4 to 13

Yes frustrating system alright! But as I have noticed with several of these systems, we are plagued by left over cloud cover hampering convection and storms to develop. I'm not sure whether it is that the atmosphere in SE Australia cannot handle the amount of moisture that gets dragged down but we a...

Re: Hot and thundery - Tropical moisture feed - Jan 4 to 13

Showering again now despite nothing on radar in Horsham, up to 20mm for the event, RADAR HOLE at play again!! Had written off today, maybe I spoke too soon. You and I are in the same boat re the radar hole. Massive gap in radar coverage in w Vic really. Radar is nye on useless apart from thundersto...

Re: Hot and thundery - Tropical moisture feed - Jan 4 to 13

EC jumping right off the bandwagon for here anyway. Only giving us a few more mm for the whole event. Other seem to be holding to another 50 or so mm. It looks like it's just watch and enjoy the sound of rain time. I doubt if we will get any more thunder so being inside on this rather cool day and e...

Re: Hot and thundery - Tropical moisture feed - Jan 4 to 13

26mm here as of now. Most of that coming in a storm last night. Rain has been gentle, soaking and consistence since about midnight and the radar if it's reading right looks to have the rain thickening up to our north so hoping it gets really going. It has rained now so it might as well really get st...

Re: Hot and thundery - Tropical moisture feed - Jan 4 to 13

Only a few spot here so far. The wind forecast has been dead wrong for here. We were supposed to have n/NW winds in the morning shifting SW later in the day where as we have been in fresh SW winds all day basically. Even dust lifting at times.

Re: 2-3 January - Hot

Up to 42 again now but today is heaps worse than yesterday with this bloody wind. Anyhoo since I posted about the convection, it has not really exploded in this area but is continuing to bubble away. Have not got a clear view much to the west or NW not but radar seems to show something lining us up....

Edit: just noticed convection to the east of me too. Only just popped so bendigo heads up

Re: 2-3 January - Hot

Just curious, we seem to have high DPs here and looks like a lot of of places in SA do too. Will this moderate the weather much and potentially allow more rain to be in showers and storms or is this moisture very shallow?

Re: Warm/hot and thundery: Jan 4 to 10

Hope we can score a shower but we the dryness up here needs and 2011 type event to get wet now. Reckon that's a bit unlikely however welcome it might be! Just got told I have to feed sheep for another week now so it can pour down if it likes. It will be all gone in a week!

Re: 2-3 January - Hot

Cracking day up here today! Warm but no wind. That's what we all want up in the mallee. No wind. Things get a bit dusty if a sheep farts up here!

Hoping that there can be some showers and storms with this spike coming but sounding unlikely for the NW but one can hope.

Re: Thursday 20th November onwards - potential for more rain

I like it when the BOM talk about tropical air.....they mention that it will be back over the weekend to about mid next week with a stalled trough and showers/poss storms around the state for several days. Yes not a certainly but in with a shot and certainly better than those dreaded "dry, hot ...

Re: Long summer like spell: late October

Yeah hot and sticky feeling up here too. 35c and 30%humidity. Maybe not humid for down south but for us desert folk it's sauna like! Also this heat has hit a bit too quick for adjusting.

Re: Long summer like spell: late October

Hoping on the off chance we get a rumble here but we are now in fire season for sure. Roadside slashing has been left way too late and another fire was started today. Lightning will be a concern for those who have crops worth harvesting. Most of us however would like some sort of precip even with th...

Re: Vic - First 30C of the warm season - September 28th 2014

Last year was a fairly warm start to spring but got bloody cold again from memory( we bought our baby sone home in early November and had the fire/heater going for a few days). I am surprised that we have not had a stinker up here yet this year. This drought(undeclared but it's a drought) has been a...

Re: Looking towards substantial rainfall for SE Australia

Well yet another quite useful system that has squirmed its way around us. We ended up with 8mm but as many would be aware large parts of western Vic missed out in a big way. Hopefully there is another system that will finally deliver more widespread totals in western areas.

Re: Sep 22-25 Warmer, becoming unstable, storms and rain -

Light rain easing off up here. Measured a pretty disappointing 7mm earlier and there has not been much since then. 7mm might keep some a stuff alive for another week but no drought breaker up here that's for sure. Once again we seem to be in the middle of the dry slot.
