Re: Vic - Trough and Rainband: Sept 16-17 2019

Not a single drop here, just more pointless wind.

Focus now turns to the upcoming event for later Sunday/Monday.

That bloody wind has been horrible here as well Gordon. Really over it. :x

Been a wet 24 hours here with constant showers pushing through this morning. Had to navigate two of them while walking the dog.

Will be happy to start seeing some warmer conditions.

Looks like the mowers will be out in force on Saturday with the slightly warmer conditions forecast. I've even bought myself a new one for the occasion. ;)

Bright blue sunny skies here. I even hit the bike for the trip into work. That's how much confidence I have of it raining today.

Re: Vic - Antarctic cold wave 7 - 16 Aug 2019

Finally got around to posting our total for the event. 34mm recorded which is a pretty good result. The clay soils are absolutely saturated around here. Definitely won't be able to take much more. Would of been nice to see something other than just rain, but I guess that's pretty much to be expected...

Re: Vic - Antarctic cold wave 7 - 12 Aug 2019

Wonderful pictures everyone, congratulations to all you snow bunnies up in the hills & high country. :D As for the rest of us, well it's just been another stock standard winter event. Didn't even get hail here in Burnside Heights. Currently on my way to the G via the train with an awesome view of th...

My brother has just reported snow at Clonbinane.
Kewl. Is he up in the hills? It would be snowing on Mt Disappointment
He actually lives in Wandong & went for a stroll up the road to Clonbinane. I'm not exactly sure whereabouts in Clonbinane they are.

The shower over us atm has large drops. which looking at the clouds, would seem to be from melting snow on the way down.

Re: Vic - Antarctic cold wave 7 - 12 Aug 2019

When I first came to Ferny Creek in May 1986 it snowed on 30th July. The snow was on the ground for 3 days. It was amazing. We thought all winters would be like that. Yes, good old July 1986, my one and only snow experience. I was in grade 6 at Epping Primary School, and remember all of us looking ...

Re: Vic - Antarctic cold wave 7 - 12 Aug 2019

13.5mm recorded in Burnside Heights overnight. Couldn't have asked for a better start to the event. :D Minor flooding could start to become an issue out here if we get another couple of decent drenching's during the next few days. The clay soils out this way are soaked & won't hold any more moisture...

Yes it would be nice to have the snow and rain... but without the wind.
Totally agree, even though it won't happen unfortunately. :(

Checked the forecast before bed, afternoon rain/showers. Wake up to rain and more inbound. Check the forecast again, still saying late afternoon. Wake up BOM and look out the window. You should know by now the BOM takes a "all eggs in one basket approach" to their Melbourne forecasts. ;) Had a brie...

Fair amount of drizzle here as well this morning. Bit unusual for this side of town with the west/south westerly airstream. Usually it comes from the south for us.

It's a real yawn fest out here in the western boredom zone compared to the other side of the bay. Absolutely nothing happening here other than more bloody wind! :x

Meanwhile the rain just keeps on falling down at the other place on the island. It's been a superb system down that way. :D

I'll be so relieved when this windy crap is over. Going to be a long couple of days (or week for that matter).
